In a recent podcast episode, Cowboys’ All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons openly criticized the Chicago Bears for their handling of former quarterback Justin Fields, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Parsons pointed out that the Bears’ decision to trade Fields and move on sent a damaging message, stripping the young quarterback of his confidence.
He praised the Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin for restoring Fields’ potential, noting that Fields has led the Steelers to a strong 3-1 record after stepping in for the injured Russell Wilson.
On his podcast, “The Edge,” Parsons expressed his admiration for Fields, calling him a “legit talent,” while expressing disappointment that the Bears gave up on him too soon.
“The Bears probably stripped him of his confidence. They kinda just shipped him off. I thought they should’ve kept him,” Parsons pointing out how the trade underestimated Fields’ abilities. He credited Tomlin for helping Fields regain his form, and expressed happiness at seeing Fields flourish in his new role.

While Fields is performing well in Pittsburgh, Parsons’ critique casts a light on the Bears’ decision-making, especially as the team’s draft pick, Caleb Williams, has yet to solidify his place. The upcoming Cowboys-Steelers Sunday Night Football clash will provide Fields another chance to shine, though it won’t be easy.

Fields has had some turnover issues in recent games, and with the Cowboys’ formidable defense, led by Parsons (who will miss his first game), this matchup is set to be a key test for both teams.
The Steelers, aiming to bounce back from a Week 4 loss to the Colts, will need Fields to deliver consistent performances, similar to his early-season form. Both the Cowboys and Steelers have had mixed starts, but this game could be important indicators of their playoff credentials.
